Graylingwell Masterplan

Chichester, West Sussex, UK

Linden Downland LLP engaged Studio Engleback in late September 2007 to provide the landscape design input to the proposed net zero carbon energy residential development of the former Graylingwell Hospital site in Chichester. The design team lead by John Thompson & Partners with Joachim Elbe Arkitecktur, Capita Symmonds, RSK, WSP, CgMs, King Sturge and Corylus Ecology has proposed a beacon scheme that will be the largest low carbon residential development to date in South East England.

The government has set a target for net zero carbon new homes by 2016, this project will include the largest photovoltaic array in Europe - 15000m2, supplemented by locally produced biomass. The multi-functional landscape addressed historic, cultural and natural history with a framework of encironmental infrastructure.
